I am interested in making A.I.

I am interested in other things too.

Am quite isolated.

Spend time on the internet.

I like science/technology.

Do research.

Wish I were smarter.

Anime,

"Wish I were smarter."

You have discussed your life a bit, and expressed quite a bit of interest in AI and other issues.

If you can hold out and hold up, our tech keeps moving.

We have a recent post on EV that might give many of us help in getting smarter in our future.

The post I refer to has a link to a KAI article about tech advances on short term memory assistance. It uses implanted tech connected to the hippocampus.

The tech is not to that point yet, but it's a really encouraging article in that respect.

I also see it as encouraging because this effort is trying to track memories and "input" them back into the brain via the hippocampus.

To me that suggests that the tech will continue to advance past copying something and putting it back, to being able to convert alphanumeric data and possibly images into a format that the hippocampus will accept and rout it into my little mind.

The article does not say that, but it seems like a certainly possible way this could keep going.

That, or some other tech we dont have yet is going to give us data uploads to our minds.

Like fire, sharp-edged stones and sharp sticks, this tech can of course be misused.

But for those of us who just wanna get a wee bit smarter? Our personal AI units in a few years should be able to help us avoid some of the abuse, and help us download some interesting stuff.

So stick around, kiddo!

When we get all that whiz-bang tech thats coming, we will still be communicating here, or back on KAI if they unwind and open up some kind of Forum section, or in some big, new Second Life that is much more like real life than it does now.

Maybe I just need some neurofeedback and some neurotropics.

Sure, maybe that would do it. Better sleep, meditation, of course. You know you much better than I.

I remember youthful fascination in the '70's with neuro-feedback, very simplistic at that time, possibly being able to be used by me to train this or that autonomic issue to be slower or faster. Including brainwaves - alpha, theta, etc.

And nootropics will continue for a while to be as plagued as medicine up to modern times. Some good, some nonsensical but safe and some dangerous no matter how you use it.

But that stuff is going to amazingly better as AI is, I think. I look forward to it!

And with regard to the Breakdown vid - ever hear of Prof. Robert Sapolsky? This link is good intro in a bookstore talk, an overview of some general misconceptions and our present knowledge:

Re: Meow

A.I. should change when it perceives something new. This will create a higher resolution of reality that can be manipulated to plan actions. In essence by feedback to better see reality this creates feedback to better change reality. The loops that work and those that do not.

Creates feedback that allows loops to organize to manipulate reality. Have a self-model and theory of mind besides.
