Hezbollah has been a massive political and economic and social - and Jihadi-Terrorist - force in Lebanon for a few generations, now.

Islamic Terror preceded Hezbollah for other generations preceding that.

A guy I listen to now and again, an ethnically-Jewish US Professor named Gad Saad, was born there, and had to flee as a young adult with much of his family, due to the current problems with the then-long-growing Islamic pressure.

It had been subdued for other generations, during which his family prospered, as did other Jews and many Christians. Generations before, Lebanon was majority Christian, and was known as the "Paris of the Mideast."

Now - this massive terror explosion is sadly more massive than unusual. Also, it's sadly not unusual at all to have some Jihadi-terror in now very, very Islamic Lebanon.

We now know that almost 3000 pounds of Ammonium Nitrate explosive have been improperly, dangerously stored in a Government warehouse at that port for years, before something led to it exploding.

No terror or other intent is needed to explain this - it can easily have been due to the way it was improperly stored.

The blast was measured at over 3 on the Richter Scale, and left a crater where the port warehouse was.

In the picture below, you can see in the comparison picture below, the above part is the pre-explosion sky-view, The bottom is post-blast. Note the missing buildings in the bottom section.

In that section, there's a line pointing to a new section of the bay, where it fills in a new crater, where part of the port, and the warehouse used to be, at the base of the bigger of the two piers:

At first I thought it was a nuclear bomb. When you consider that an atomic explosion is equivalent to at least thousands of tonnes of high explosive this blast possibly was equivalent to a small nuclear bomb (vey small, I believe the Hiroshima bomb had a yield equivalent to fifty thousand tonnes of TNT).

Yes, Extie, you have nailed an interesting point.

The dynamite-strength-equivalency puts this this explosion as being in the same range as the Nuke Bombs used in the last World War.
