Here are the two core arguments made in these pieces:

1) Trump is a racist;

2) Trump's deplorables in whitish states might allow him to limp to victory.

What's the most likely outcome of the election?

Trump carries in excess of 40 states, more than enough for 4 more years. The MSM is shocked. Minorities swing more toward Trump and the "racist deplorables" turn out like crazy. Constantly calling about 70% of the voters 'racist' for 4 years isn't going to help, even among 'minority' voters. WalkAway!

In 2016, it was fringe to vote Trump, but in 2020 it will be absolutely acceptable to support the Golden One. Trump voters will crawl over glass to cast their vote, while Left voters will be demoralized by the specter of 4 more years of the Great Man of History. They know they're going to lose, so why bother.

Anyway, the Dem's are assured to have a political midget for their nominee. Any one of them will alienate blocks of the Rainbow Coalition. Old Joe, Pocahontas and the woman that rode the beast with two backs to power . . . all toast.

Redq

You seem to be delusional

This week Trump attacked political opponents of African and Hispanic extraction that ‘they should go back to where they come from’.

Are you paying atttebtion at all the the emerging demographics in this country at all?

Many consider these attacks on the edge of political suicide.

He will he called a racist from now until the election

And Robert Mueller will testify on Wednesday’

The Democrats don’t want to impeach Trump. They want to beat him in 2020.

Time will tell of course

What he said, in essence, is that since they hate America and want to make it like the countries of their ancestry, they should go to those countries and make them function, then come back and show us how it is done. The key element is their hatred of America. Crazy Eyes, Tilapia, Little Miss Jihad and the other one hate the United States and want to model it after one of their old country caliphate/communism states. First solve those failed states, and then we will take them seriously. Go ahead! Off now!

Yes - well written truth, there.

And the millions of "popular votes" lost. That is, the raw number of votes from all states combined, being called "the popular votes."

The effort by Dems to get States to order their State Electors to vote in accordance with the "national popular vote" according to some specific calculation have been moving steadily ahead for years, now. Thats now the law in several States.

We'll see if that makes any more difference in '20 than the ZERO difference it made in '16.

I doubt it, because so far, Blue States that vote Dem anyway are the ones that have done that.

This whole "lets rip up the Electoral College" is an example of the Dem "tear down as much of the fabric of the USA as possible" core-principle.

For most of my life, until Al Gore lost to "W," I hadn't known at all about the very long-established position of State Elector - I just knew that we had them.

During the Bush-Gore election, I found out like many others that to be appointed a State Elector is a Big Deal for the people who are appointed. A big responsibility to meet, with one's honor, based on doing so faithfully.

"Honor" and "faithful" have long been stripped of any particular extra meaning, for most of us. Not for many is there anything in those words beyond what anyone sees in any other word. Swearing on a Bible, or a Phone-book, has no important difference for many.

Much of the work has been done for the Dems already!

Happily, the deep strands of tradition held up very back when it appeared that Al Gores' failing campaign was trying to get some Electors to go against their oath - to become "unfaithful electors."

In the name of a higher purpose! To help Al Gore defeat "W."

The Electoral Count was a looser for AL. Unless he could stop the whole show in court, he was a "goner." Als campaign was clearly on it's way to the dumpster - this "Electoral College" thing was a very surprising, and very weirdly handled move, publicity-wise.

Al and his team denied they had any part in it, and most articles today support that. I remember that time, and it was clear that at least some media, and his team, were supporting that idea.

I, like many before that time, had never even heard of a "faithful" or "unfaithful" Elector. Al failed to turn any electoral votes. It turns out that we've had several!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/08/03/how-a-faithless-elector-in-georgia-could-cost-donald-trump-an-electoral-college-vote-explained/?utm_term=.236ebcb28f21

Our current system has both main Parties appointing Electors from within people who are very tied to the established Party. And people tied to various State businesses, and people who also were very tied to that Party, within that given State. It looks like a "sturdy weed" of an evolved institution, thank goodness.

Even so - the Dems have decided to address their efforts at the bureaucracy of the States itself. To "rip up the very ground beneath the Electoral College," so to speak.

They've made steady progress - but only in Blue States, that were voting Dem anyway.

My hope is that more Repubs become aware of this. That a movement starts to get Repub legislators working to solidify the established Electoral College system, and to fight for it. Efforts to get it into School presentations and media accounts whenever possible should be tried. They've been making efforts to some time to send anti-electoral college messaging - thats almost all anyone reads or hears about it, now.

If the Dems persist, there's no reason to think they can't destroy this original bulwark in our structure. On that is protecting us today from the obviously bad risk of Dem machine politics forcing through a Hillary,or Bernie, or Biden.

The machine can push through a glass a water if it has a "D" on it in a safe district, as Nancy put it recently. The same goes in many Repub districts for some time, with an "R" on that glass.

I don't want some future Repubs to be able to do that, either.
