The Inscrutable Europeans
I don't think that Escape Velocity has a single European as a writer or a lurker (UK is not European). At least since Giulio left.
NATO is all about defending Europeans, but as Extropia elucidated in a recent post, they are very different people because the basis of their society is civil law, as compared to Common Law that is shared by most of the Five Eyes, also known as Western Civilization. Europe proper is not Western Civilization.
Is Europe proper part of Western Civilization, or have we diversified too far to say we share anything in common, or at least enough?
If Europe continues to be influenced by the far Left and Muslims immigrants, I think not.
The U.S. may be better working with Russia.

Yeah, China has found the Europeans Tres' Bribe-worthy, especially, the Germans. The Germans, as Orange Man had noted, wanted us to protect them from Putin, yet, continued to prop-up his economy, thus, feeding his military ambition. We also have Germany wuving the Iranians, even though they (The Ayatollahs) have said that they will aim any nuclear weapon at US bases in the Arab Gulf, etc. (Forget about Israel).
It's a bit like W.B. Yeats famous poem.

This is why nations are still important. Having said this, the US public have been used by the globalists, in a false dawn of world unity, that serves only the billionaires and elites and yes, socialists.
