That has such clear, recent precedence! To do that to a lawyer in clear intent to both intimidate him to "rat out" his former boss - to either testify or "testi-lie."
And also to find in confidential papers or video something to get at that prior boss with.
Unprecedented in modern times when clearly intended to go after a sitting president. More like what was done to another successful Repub President who, in that case, didnt do as our has done numerous times:
Ask many to resign, or fire any and all who showed a lack of the skill he's looking for, honesty, or honor.
That prior one was Harding. The Dem congress at his time created the Law that lets them demand a Presidents' Tax Returns. In fact - anyones' returns.
Harding was a very successful Repub President until a corrupt Cabinet member got caught in what, until Watergate, was the worst Presidential Administration scandal.
He had been very popular, and was not personally at fault - but was tainted by having the corruptoid in his Cabinet.
That and a couple of other scandals left him open to being very much maligned by the Press Textbook publishers cooperated so well ever since, that most think he was corrupt himself due to the "teapot dome" scandal.
The real pile on came after his death in office. It got very intense.
The same thing had happened to hugely popular Grant. Like Harding, he too was unable to see through the lies that corrupt subordinates told him. His administration was burdened by several corruption scandals.
Our guy told Comey and his boys to investigate the hell out of his people. "Nobody should be doing anything wrong," was and is his view.
How, how different from the hubby of his former, crushed competitor.
