Statement on Conditions in Haiti

[url][sign in to see URL]

The Episcopal Church expresses deep concern for the deteriorating conditions in Haiti, originating from both recent developments and ongoing, unaddressed issues. We are concerned by the recall of Haiti’s ambassador to the United States and by the impact of ongoing protests, now lasting for over a week, on daily life in Haiti. We also express support for Haitians’ right to call for good governance, justice and accountability.

Additionally, we are concerned about the humanitarian conditions in the country resulting from more prolonged issues namely, the rapidly deteriorating economic conditions, slow recovery from both the 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew in 2016, food insecurity, increased local reporting of civilian deaths resulting from state security forces, evidence of corruption, and a failure to pursue accountability in these deaths and corruption.

I don't know how ya fix Haiti? Go in there and massacre the government? Reinstall the French with Macron as ruler? ??? !!!

In life, I feel, we are all like the Roman Eunuchs at the orgy, we can point and gossip, but cannot participate. I probably wouldn't want to participate in said, orgy, unless the rest of the participants were women anyway. (Nyuck!)

Re: Statement on Conditions in Haiti

All of our Western Hemisphere Nations should get used to not having us step in and fixing their screwed up nations.

Any that we are not helping right now should be left with that status.

Any Dem or Repub that wants to should be urged to shoot right over there - Haiti or wherever -and get started.

Venezuela is another case. We are giving aid to Venezuelan refugees on one or more of their border countries. I hope that is severely limited - otherwise, rebuilding that place will be left to the dedicated, angry and bitter Chavistas.

I certainly hope Pres Trump doesn't offer to do it!
