Consumer Reports- Tesla Batteries charge life cut in COLD

I thought 1st to push this item to MINDX but decided that as this is a live battery, in a live car, people need to know. Secondly, Tesla gets pimped as having The Answer, and his stuff is not really perfected. In this way, I now supposed that his BFR is half-done already.

It fits in both places, Spud.

In the coming Ice Age, we'll laugh about a lot of stuff.

Windmills versus Oil? What a laugh.

This is a batter-issue generally, all commercially used types of batteries have reduced life in very cold temps.

All of us with years of time in cold winter locations - mine is long in my past, thankfully - recall that there is a smaller number of restart tries available in ones' battery in winter.

Thats the old lead-acid batteries. I have a used Prius right now, and it uses a nickel-metal hydride battery. Happily, it never gets all that cold here. Some native Floridians would disagree, of course.

Before I try a drive up into our "polar States" I will check out some Prius blogs from those States. I dont think its too much of a problem for us, but I really don't know.

For people with hybrid cars, like mine, or all battery ones - good luck in bad winters! I would hope people would check into these things before buying an all-battery or hybrid care.

When I checked, a few articles like this pushed me to indulge my desire to buy:

Interesting article Doc. Makes me a bit leery since I live in Ohio and I am feeling the cold!

Redq-The Little Ice Age has been said to have lasted from like 1315-1850/ Lots of wars and history during that period eh? So we take what the experts say, with a grain of salt, or a whole lot of it via, Sodium batteries.

Like gasoline, it isn't energy but energy storage. Heat or electricity.
