Re: Bingo Brawl at Nursing Home -Armageddon!
I spent a bit over five years taking care of my late Mom before she passed away, and doing so I took her to various elderly events.
Most of the elderly had zero family there at any of these. Their worlds looked to have devolved into a small, freindly encounters, or "barely there" rituals with which to keep them distracted from dawn to dusk.
To read of some elderly who were so robustly interested in their game made me curious, and your linked article had a tweet that linked back to a short primary article:
"Rideau Lakes OPP officers were called to break up a bingo brawl Tuesday after two seniors got into a physical struggle over seating during a game and other residents at the old-age home piled on.
Officers responded to the fight between the two women, aged 79 and 86, at the unidentified long term care facility in Rideau Lakes Township at about 1:15 p.m.
No one was seriously hurt and no charges were laid, police said."
Those Canadians are apparently a tough, hardy breed! Happily, no weapons use was noted.
