I think the point of the ad is that men should shave off their pubic hair as a way to virtue signal that men are bad.
I didn't get that at all but uh.. ok.

Thanks for your valuable contribution to the thread. Constructive and civil as always RedQ.

Ans - incredibly stupid.
That's why I posted the last link I did.
The guy notes that its an insane lefty move promoting current feminist toxic masculinity, "me too" ideas - that ad thus appeals to feminists.
Yes, I understand that is his opinion. Not an opinion I share obviously.

He points out that if they were trying to appeal to guys, it would have trucks, football, vido games, and a guy enjoying his "refreshing gillette shave."
Not all guys are into trucks, football and videogames. I have no special affinity for trucks and I can't stand football. Most men are good and kind, and dislike bullies and abusers. That ad should appeal to most men, because most men are are good.

Instead it has prompted guys to swear they will never shave with Gillette products again.
Some guys maybe. The guys that are offended by a video with a message of "the best men are those who aren't cruel" I guess.
I could understand your position if the video was only full of terrible men, but it clearly shows the bad and the good. It uses the bad to make the good look better. If you're a good person, it should be empowering. If you're offended by the slightest hint of political correctness then I guess I can see why such a message would be intolerable.

Yes, Spud, the guy in your pic is most of the Right and most centrists who are not nearly as copacetic to PC as lucid.

Yes, lucid - to you, and roughly 99.99% of our academia and media and entertainment peeps - PC is a fine thing, and really good to have in more and more of everything...
'Cause hey - its good!
If the point of the advert was to address that general PC push, it succeeded. Thus appealing most directly to those who are already exposed to and approve of PC.
The reaction against it is part of the already ongoing reaction that did not start with Candidate Trump being officially "anti-PC."

Re: Proctor & Gamble Looks Eager to Get Woke, Go Broke
It isn't even "PC" to say that bullying is bad and men that respect women are good. The right loves to whine about the "snowflakes" on the left, but you folks are sure getting triggered pretty hard by an ad that has a message of "be good to each other".

Re: Proctor & Gamble Looks Eager to Get Woke, Go Broke
lucid,
The lefty idea of tossing back the oh-so apt "snowflake" appellation at conservo's as our ongoing debates continue has no weight.
We use it not simply to insult. Note its' origin - it referred to young adult collegiates melting down like spoiled toddlers whose parents refuse to do the hard work of training them to toughen up both to the promptings of their own urges and to lifes' pokes and stumbles.
Like the kid who rolls around on the floor of a restaurant, screaming in a tantrum, these young adults are trained by todays most cutting edge PC educators to melt down.
Yes, to melt down, like snowflakes in the sun. Thus, the term.
Thus also the infamous "Let's all meet up and scream to the sky" event. Thus screaming to Ben Shapiro that he's "...a Nazi who is killing me."
Thus "Trigglypuff."
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/trigglypuff
Use "smowflake" on us all ya want - its not a thoughtless insult.
Its a well thought out insult that fits the freshest, newest cohort of your beloved PC community.

Sure sounds like people so upset about an innocuous ad that they boycott the company and burn their razors while whining on twitter. But hey, I know you don't want to admit it when your own side is acting hypocritically. I won't hold it against you.

Re: Proctor & Gamble Looks Eager to Get Woke, Go Broke
lucid,
Upset, angry, fed up - all of those have been propted by the "toxic masculinity," "me too"-filled Gillette commercial from one person or another.
If you choose to use snowflake as a smear, simply realize that we are not using it that way.
I simply was pointing out that it was no mere smear from us. It refers to being set off - "triggered," to use the approved PC word - by slights so slight nobody notices unless you carefully explain, after a bout of screaming, what set ya off.
In contrast, our anti-PC reaction has built up over a few decades now. The PC stuff is noted in articles and comedy routines going back that long.
That empirical evidence of the existence of PC in all its growing, more and more intrusive glory, means that PC is no imaginary thing "triggering" us.
The PC issues of "toxic masculinity" and "me too" are both assaults on a whole gender and the fact that men and women on the left are OK with them don't mean much to almost any of us.

Yep. A bunch of conservative snowflakes were "set off" or "triggered" by an innocuous ad that vilifies bad people and lauds good people. A slight that nobody notices unless you carefully explain it. Quite frankly I still don't really understand the problem, but you're welcome to continue carefully explaining it if you want.
I think I'm using "snowflake" correctly.
