I like Demis a lot. Hes not just an excellent scientist hes a very good science communicator - his talks are great. I rate his AI achievements as being the most advanced of anyone in the world. So when he says we are no we're near AGI we should believe him.
Compare this to Goertzel who has said AGI is feasible within 5-7 years. He parades his Sophia robot around which seems very limited and then claims hes the leader in the field. Having said that his blockchain SingularityNet is the best idea I think ive ever heard and hope it takes off.

I respect these men. However, they strike me as overly conservative...a good trait for scientists making prognostications, but not an accurate world view. I still put the Singularity at c 2030.
