What goes around Mitch comes around....

Remember in 2013 when Mitch McConnell held back Republican votes short of the 60 votes needed forcing the government shut down for 13 days? What did he expect to happen? Of course Nancy and Chuck responded exactly the same way!

The game rolls on...
Alternate, to script, is that things are funded 8 years into the future at a COLA of 3%. Congress does this even if they 'stumble' on funding agreements.

The world does not collapse and Barry, to show how "disastrous" things were, ordered national parks to close, just to freak people out.

There will be a Social Security attempt to scare next week, I reckon.

Spud,

With Ex Pres Obama, they went so far as to suggest that they would not be able to pay the interest on T Bills. Hah! I couldn't believe they were going so far when they did that.

Acting like a partial shutdown would prevent such payments. Yes, they will try something. Fortunately, even if Mitch or Ryan dont call the Dems out when they do, I think I know someone who will Tweet up a storm!

The Dems are in their resist and denial mode. I don't see them getting over it, ever.

Red,

Nope. They will ride the "Resist the horrible, lying, woman hating Racist" right up to the Congy elections in '18, and to Pres Trump re-elect in '20.

Various Dem pundits urge making some deal. But it wont happen, because the base is too "hopped up" with violent emotion to switch.

"Violent emotion" is not too strong a word for this current issue with our Dems.

For a good comparison, go way back to when Jimmy Carter and the then-leader of Isreal offered a deal of a lifetime to Yasser Arafat decades ago.

Arafat was running a bunch of terrorist gangs as the leader of the PLO, and by that time several generations of Palestinian kids had been taught by UN-paid-for-textbooks and videos that the US and Israel were evil and that all Jews in Israel should be killed or driven into the Mediterranean Sea.

He was politically unable to take any deal that allowed Isreal to continue to exist back to that mass of intentionally "roiled up with hate" humanity.

So he left the US peace conference, and instead called for an "Intifada" - a wave of terror actions. He ordered them all to do what they were dying to do. His options were few.

Thats directly analogous to the current "Dreamer - Wall" negotiation. It seems like only hours ago that Pres Trump called in the Press, and he and the others made cases that showed a real deal as imaginable without laughter. As you recall, they finally cut away for private talks.

The Dems then divert from that great "promise for relief for the Dreamers" to...

"he's a racist who thinks nobody but White Norwegians should immigrate to the US, instead of "S@&*!le non-Whites."

This accusation feeds the stereotype of Pres Trump that they have been selling for almost two years. Those "sky howlers" out there really believe it. Like Arafat, Dem leaders feel compelled to lead their agitated, furious followers where they want to go - or be devoured by those followers.

Fortunately, we have Don in charge today instead of Jimmy "Who?" Carter. The set-up confrontation is now "the Gov Shut-down."

This is actually only a limited shut-down, with all budget items noted as "necessary" given funding.

I am very confident that Pres Trump can show continuing confidence running the executive branch on the limited shutdown funding.

That will be a "teaching moment" contrast with the prior period of Ex Pres Obama, when such a limited shutdown was treated like a horror story of despair.

Doc, It’s all Kabuki theater.

This is the first time the President had to have Dem votes in the Senate to get past the filibuster. The Dem are delighted to say no! Nothing is going to get through the Senate because the Dems will block everything, and then in the mid-terms claim that the Reps can’t govern even when they control everything. They think we’re dumb.

The Dems strategy is to ride this “Trump is terrible at making deals” to control of the House, and then immediately impeach Trump on trumped-up charges emanating from the Mueller ‘investigation’. It will fail, because the Senate won’t convict. However, it will setup 2020 nicely because they can shout “Trump is a racist asshole that has been impeached”.

The best thing that can happen is that the Republicans retain the House and Senate (the House with small losses and the Senate with greater numbers) and then remove the filibuster in total. Then the last two years of Trump’s first term can be productive.

As to the Middle East, we see the same dynamic of Trump’s negotiation style. He’s taken off the table the issue of Jerusalem by moving the embassy there. He will take other actions that will hurt the Terrorists until they realize they should just tuck their tails between their legs, and do the deal.

The PLO and the Dems are equivalent and need to be dealt with in a similar manner.

Red,

Agreed to all, execept I would hit Sen Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for the legislative filibuster.

Mitch can do that with simply 51 votes, just like the other filibuster rules were cancelled.

He publicly said before Pres Trumps term started that he is a traditionalist and doesnt intend to remove the legislative veto.

The second point is that moving Pres Trumps nominees are big Mitch failures.

It is Mitch, just Mitch, that is holding both of those back. Both could start changing tomorrow.

Apart from that, while you are right that the Dems are blocking us, he can still show effectiveness. Pres Trump has the economy and the things that have gotten done and that he tried to do but were stopped by this or that Repub. And all the Dems, and almost all the Media.

We also have some bennies headed our way.

The fallout of the Hillary investigation, the Ex Pres Obama and blocking the Hezbollah-Drug sales DEA investigation, the FISA memo investigation.

However far along those are, thats good ammo for us in Nov of this year.

More Kabuki theater. If you remove the filibuster with a single vote majority, you make every Rhino a Sultan of the Senate. I think Mitch is playing his part in this production.

But you're right about the retribution that is coming. Congress has the power of investigation. No wonder Hillary spent all election night crying.
