Re: Leah Remini on Scientology

So in the 1980’s I was living in Hollywood and Scientology was offering free psychological testing on Hollywood Boulevard . I declined I lived there until 1996 while they built a big blue complex and the Celebrity Center on Franklin in what I believe had been luxury apartments in the 1930’s. I had a degree in religion from the U of Iowa
(Minor) and I was basically agnostic. Culturally JudaeoChristian, but not actively a participant.

Paul Tillich the eminent Christian theologian defined religion as ‘ultimate concern’ Scientology is a fledgling religion which is clearly an attempt by its name to co opt the enlightenment by including ‘Science’ in its name.

I listened to enough of Lee Remenis dialogue to realize I want nothing to do with it.

Having said that I want nothing to do with being Quaker either but one of the wisest epithets on human behavior I have ever learned emanates from their teachings

‘we find the faults most easily in others that we have ourselves’

James believes (or so he says). That buried in the absurdity of Scientology is the capacity to heal mental disorders like depression, schizophrenia, bi polar disorder, and adhd with non chemical intervention.
I am open to this but it would need to be extracted submitted to scientific testing and all done outside the control of the church of Scientology. I gather that is an oxymoron. It will never happen

I assume by writing this I would be identified as a ‘supressive

Oh well. So it goes.

Yes. A certain percentage of Scientology is absurde, but another percentage is better than anything modern psychiatry, psychoanalysis or medicine is capable of. I know this for a fact because I was a trained interned auditor and studied and applied Scientology for about 12 years. I also read almost all of Hubbard's books and received hundreds of hours of auditing. So my praise and criticism of Scientology are not totally theoretical.

Scientology is different.

Scientology is not LIKE other stuff, thus many people do not LIKE it.

People like what they are like. But if the world only does things that are like what it is or what it likes, then the world will never become different. If the world never becomes different then the world never even has a chance to improve, because improvement is a change, it is doing something different.

So never try to be liked, try to be different.

The Globalists are inculcating an entire generation to "LIKE" everything. These people are much more evil than Scientologists.

>I am open to this but it would need to be extracted submitted to scientific testing and all done outside the control of the church of Scientology.

I agree with this. I believe in the scientific method and would love to see Scientology run through clinical trials.

My only proviso would be that the judging authority not only NOT be COVERTLY connected to Scientology in any way but also NOT be COVERTLY connected to any so-called modern medical hospital, university or establishment, psychiatry, the APA, AMA, WFMH, FDA or any other mental health org, drug therapy interest or government.

>I gather that is an oxymoron. It will never happen

It could easily happen. If the COS is accused of abusing people the whole matter could come before the U.S. Justice Department. The only problem with that is the U.S. Justice Dept. is less ethical than the general Church of Scientology. So this is a tough nut to crack. I think any entity that would judge or test Scientology would have to be some sort of hybrid entity or committee OPENLY -- NOT COVERTLY -- consisting of among the following:

1) Scientists from unrelated fields;

2) Scientists from related fields;

3) Active Scientologists at the highest levels of Scientology;

4) Defected Scientologists who attained the highest levels of Scientology;

5) People who knew LRH;

6) People who helped start Dianetics and Scientology ("Old Timers" like John Sandborn).

It would be so hard. Like sitting in judgement of the New Testament.

>I assume by writing this I would be identified as a ‘supressive

Those are just words that have import to people in Scientology. The Jews have a similar word, "anti-Semite." Both the Jews and the Scientologists have much in common, especially how they deal with enemies. I would not be surprised at all if Hubbard didn't formulate much of his "PR Series" and the "Black Propaganda Series" from Jewish texts and Hollywood movie industry practices. I know he set up Celebrity Center -- where I attended for about 8 years -- to attract movie stars like Tom Cruise and John Travolta. I superficially know Johnny and I know Paul Haggis from working with him at Brilliant Films and my participation in the "Behind the Scenes Club." Don't know Tom Cruise but used to date one of Elvis Presley's very sweet, illegitimate daughters, Jennifer VanLypps, who was, or still is, a Scientologist. Priscilla Presley is a big Scientology supporter, however she is not Jennifer's mother. Surprised? You don't think arguably the most famous rock and roll musician of all time doesn't have a number of "illegitimate" children peppered around? As long as I'm name-dropping, I also once met, and took a long walk with, John Sanborn. He worked with LRH from the beginning and used to run PUBs.
