David Hogg is the Perfect Progressive
Evan Sayet calls them "Modern Liberals". I call them progressives. What they have in common is that they are largely removed from the working world and, consequently, are able to form opinioins that are divorced from reality. They also tend to embrace "victimhood". The victim is the hero of the progressive.
David Hogg has become the quintessential progressive. Because he has his name on a best-selling book,(1) he will never have to work at a real job and he will literally never have to grow up. He can spend his life going from town to town speaking at protests and playing the activist.
His words may or not be his own, but his victim-hood gives them power. His female counterpart, Emma Gonzalez, was lauded, not for her speech, but for her silence.(2) That shows the power of victimhood. David Hogg is not merely a person who will never grow up and never have to hold a real job. He is a person whose words are his power...even if they are absent.
David Hogg has not merely been removed from reality by his strange fate as an "almost" shooting victim. He is so far from reality that his distance from reality has become his reality. He is a person who is revered for being completely removed from reality. He is a select member of the "chatty class" that has the unique privelege of never having to say anything. He just has to talk. "Ooooohhhh...listen to the victim talk! What did he say? Oh, it doesn't matter...I am so touched by his victimhood! He is the victims mentor!"
