Which is my contribution to todays fashion. It's simply what I am used to. I wear what I am used to wearing for years. I will probably conform at some point....nondisclosed_email@example.com (greendocnowciv)Wed, 01 Aug 2018 20:40:03 +0000 Re: Not yo mommas biking gear.https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10660,from=rss#post10660https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10660,from=rss#post10660This is about how I dress now, except that I am a lot handsomer than this guy: It is hard to find pictures like this because no one is "selling" this look. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Tue, 24 Jul 2018 15:50:36 +0000 Re: Not yo mommas biking gear.https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10659,from=rss#post10659https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10659,from=rss#post10659quote:Is that bike pic from your pre-invisibility phase? Ha!...no, it is the picture that went with Richie's post. I just thought I would make it easier to access. My pre-invisibility days were never that visible! Back when I cared what I looked like, I dressed "preppy". You know: nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Tue, 24 Jul 2018 15:42:03 +0000 Not yo mommas biking gear.https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10657,from=rss#post10657https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10657,from=rss#post10657Nice story about dressing anonymously and the dog. That got me thinking a lot about how people dress and why they dress that way. Do they do it for themselves or do they do it for others? Since others invariably do not see them as they see themselves, and they generally cannot see themselves except occasionally in a happenstance mirror or reflecting shop window, dressing that way for themselves is mostly futile. After that, I began to dress mostly in clothing that would not get me noticed. Of course, people saw me, but they did not fixate on me. I passed out of their minds as quickly as I passed into them so that, for all practical purposes, I was totally invisible. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. I could walk around the world and see it but be effectively unseen. The world took on a whole new meaning. I was like a drone buzzing around inspecting flowers and trees and people and taking it all in without paying anything for the experience. After that, when I saw something like Bruce Jenner's transformation or this costume, I realized that these people were depriving themselves of life's most rewarding experience. They were so involved in how they are seen that they were not seeing. They were blinded by their own glare. Now, in all fairness, I should include a more recent experience. My nieces got a puppy about a year and a half ago that is part St. Bernard and part Great Pyrenees. It grew into the most impressive 140 lb dog you can imagine. We named him Max. Since I have to walk him on a leash, and since I can never leave him at home, I end up walking him all over Western Washington. The attention he gets is astonishing. I can't get past anyone without them marveling at him and asking questions. left to right: my mother's arm, Max, Petunia The beauty of it is that I get all the social interaction, but Max draws all the attention. They are so busy looking at Max that they don't see me anyhow. I doubt that anyone who knows Max by name could pick me out of a lineup. Still, it is a lot of fun explaining what he is and why I happen to have him. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spikosauropod)Mon, 23 Jul 2018 21:08:46 +0000 Not yo mommas biking gear.https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10612,from=rss#post10612https://bescapevelocity.runboard.com/p10612,from=rss#post10612https://www.facebook.com/510355645802084/posts/970003853170592/nondisclosed_email@example.com (richiemobile)Mon, 23 Jul 2018 20:09:58 +0000
