This graphic which cities will be affected by ice melt

New York City will no doubt face 2 foot rise in sea level by the end of this century. A major construction of protective dikes and walls will be required around that city like the Netherlands already does

The "fear campaign."

The "go-to" pitch that sells papers and insurance.

And, of course, the game that has come in for Al Gore so well. Many tens, maybe even hundreds of millions of dollars later.

"A flood is coming!"

Yes, a great flood will come and wash our sins away, on some sunny, or tragic day.

We can tell when, oh prophet?

We gotta buy what? Huh? Why?

One thing's for sure - that pacific island that was about to "go under" several years ago must be under water now, hun? Oh...

*Sigh*

Yes, the Florida keys and coastal oceanfront or lakefront land in many places is a dicey investment. Very desirable for many, and waves and storms can wash everything away.

As that link shows, any given chancy place can hold on, or even get stronger.

Like a wall, actually. These fragile environments are useful like a wall certainly can be, or it's simply very enjoyable for some to live there.

In many cases, it's up to people to keep either one manned up and working well.
