Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first I find myself avoiding these types of articles regarding de-aging. Partially because it usually seems like it's just blowing smoke, but also, because I don't expect to make it to that point, at least for myself.
Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first There's zero wrong is rejecting a claim because its too good to be true. Science articles are prone to lying by exaggeration, a technique used most notably to push threatening climate change as a crisis and an excuse to be ruled by politicians and climate scientist autocrats.
I hemmed and hawed before going ahead and pushing it to MindX because it seems solid enough as a 1st step. Lengthens telomeres, good? Now what else is the impact? A floor and a wall are not a house, but a work in progress.
Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first Access to a hyperbaric chamber is neither easy nor cheap, for most of us - but I agree that this, or taking NMN seems simply too good to be true.
But! This seems to have gone around the problem with using Telomerase, which extended the telomeres of cancer cells, too.
At least, I hope so! The article didn't mention that, so I'll stay optimistic. Like the NMN, this will have to stand up to more examination. NMN is holding up fine, and this may actually hold up, too!
Good luck to the codgers crawling into these
chambers! At 62, every time I read or listen to another advance, I get a little happier.
Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first By "too easy" I am referring to the simplicity of the process. I would expect reversing 25 years in telomeres to require something like gene therapy.
Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first Now, there was a seemingly "big" article in the last week about actually using CRISPR-CAS9 to get rid of cancer. This too, I just dismissed because who needs the disappointment if it proves to be exaggerated??
So yeah, caution with science reports are in order. Context is real important!
Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first Regarding aging reversal - several folks on the "NMN train" have posted vids like Sinclair has, using labs to check biomarkers, and showing the biomarkers indicating younger age over many months of NMN use.
It sure looks like replicated success. I'm using NR rather than NMN, but I'm thinking of checking into doing that biomarker stuff, myself.
Re: Human ageing process biologically reversed in world first The hyperbaric LE answer looks like it was overhyped, per this chick I've started listening to for about a month:
One problem in the study was the lengthening telomeres claim. She notes that those particular cells are known to have fluctuating telomere lengths!
Oy!
That and a few other problems indicated to her that this needs more work. Still, any advances have hiccups - this still may have legs, even if all of her points are covered. She doesn't say its trash, just that this study doesn't do it, and more study on this might.
