Yeah, I have wonder the difference tween' photonic chips and quantum chips. The main thing is that the quantum must be chilled to super cold temps like exists on Neptune.

Its a great leap forward for photonics.
A real sci fi dream - to have streams of photons rather than electrons doing the gizmo work for us.
A Yuge bennie - no heat load generated as ya work yer chip all day and night.
I believe that such a heat problem is our big issue with our current electronic tech.
However they achieved the leap to get a good, high-level, complex photonic chip working - give 'em a medal and a raise, and get them back to the drawing-board to make it even better, and smaller, and faster...
And cheaper!

This, in a wasy beats Moore's law, if we are willing to go back to the ancient Asimov style hypercomputers of his old tales. I mean, yeah, if we can do this with nano-but not a deal breaker for the boy here, if the best path leads to pentagon sized hyper computers using photons. (Shrug). Watching Space-X on its way to earth, now.

The photonic tensor core performs vector-matrix multiplications by utilizing the efficient interaction of light at different wavelengths with multistate photonic phase change memories.
