Re: Penrose-Zeldovich Black Hole Mining theory
Not "free energy," but rather energy somehow produced by the combination of the energy of the spinning target, and the energy projected at the spinning target.
Still, in the case of planets, the Sun, etc - the spin is already there, provided for us by nature. So, like "harnessing" a stream with a waterwheel, we could certainly end up with a power source of some kind.
More Grad Students and/or this team can work out more about this, certainly. Different kinds of energy projected different ways at different spinning stuff.
Different kinds of sound would mean amplitude and frequency and variations of both.
The article used the term "Twisted Sound." At least one of their runs could modify the sound by playing Zappa.

Re: Penrose-Zeldovich Black Hole Mining theory
I hope it produces butt-loads of energy. It seems like a lot of trouble!

Re: Penrose-Zeldovich Black Hole Mining theory
Lab experiments have shown you can get lots of energy out of plasmoids so if there are advanced aliens they probably are using whatever we mistakenly think are black holes as a source of energy. Not that those advanced aliens would call them ‘black holes’. Being more advanced, they will have based their astrophysics on plasma cosmology, where no black holes are needed.
