posticon So, in advance of the supposed forum close-question

Do we wish to do a clean-up, going forwards on all controversial, political, topics, and place them...? My choice would have been to copy the Politics Tank on Kurzweilai, and if you wanted to sat, Kill the Republicans!, or My Unit is 13 inches (29 centimeters of purse pleasure) we could dump it there?

Spiko, was gracious enough, to set up this Forum here, and we probably should accede to what he wants. I didn't lift a molecule to help--I just ate the meal provided by Spike! If he wants to keep this, the same, I am good, if he or anyone else wishes to add any ideas or changes, I am open. You want to censor? Or go nuts or??

Maybe no change is needed, maybe some is. But if any newbies will be coming aboard IF Kurz closes-should we adjust by being nice-nice????

Sincerely, Knucklehead!

Re: So, in advance of the supposed forum close-question

Members as diverse as Rich and Red seem to be comfortable here. That is saying a lot. We might try harder to stay within the subforum categories and move topics to the correct categories when they stray, but I don't see any reason for a general cleanup.

As a moderator, you have the right to move any thread to the Netherworld section after giving 24 hours notice:

quote:

8. Moving Off-Topic Threads: Moderators will move threads that are in an incorrect section. They will always do so by posting a notice within the current thread and waiting 24 hours. If a moderator is not sure that a thread is off-topic, they should leave it alone. If there are disputes about the management of a thread, decisions can be reversed or revoked if a majority of moderators agree.

The description of the Netherworld section makes it clear that sensitive members should not go there:

quote:

Netherworld: This section is a dumping ground for topics that are so upsetting to some members that those members cannot stand to even be aware of them. Topics may be moved to this section if the moderators believe they are toxic or have become toxic. On this site, we do not ban topics. We move them to the Netherworld. If a topic you like gets moved to the Netherworld, do not fret. You can continue your discussion uninterrupted. DO NOT complain about a topic you see in this section. If you do not want to be offended, don't open it. On the other hand, this is not a place to promote illegal or dangerous behavior. If someone proposes shooting the president or stealing identities, even in this section, their topic will be blocked and they may be subject to banning. Topics in this section must not violate Runboard site rules.

We have our rules and our voting system. If 3/4 of the members want to change a rule, we have a provision for that:

quote:

18. Rule Amendment: Rules can be amended if 3/4 of the moderators agree to the exact wording of specific amendments. Forum Administration may make minor edits to the rules to increase consistency or clarity after posting their intent in the Bureau section and waiting 24 hours for members and moderators to make objections. If any moderators object, the issue must be handled in the official manner.

There is the possibility that we have too many subforums. I can see, for example, combining Technophilia and Tomorrowland. However, I do not recommend it. I created the categories we have for real reasons, and I am convinced more than ever that those reasons are compelling. However, if 3/4 of the members want to reduce the number of categories, the process is manifest:

quote:

19. Forum Modification: Anything about the forum can be changed (where feasible) if 3/4 of the moderators agree to exact changes. Forum Administration will not undertake heroic measures to make expensive or technically difficult changes. Administration may make minor edits to the forum to increase consistency or clarity after posting their intent in the Bureau section and waiting 24 hours for members and moderators to make objections. If any moderators object, the issue must be handled in the official manner.

I think we are good to go.

Thanks for checking back!
Just wanting to get our ducks in a before what could be a new roll out for EV-IF the Kurz place closes.

It doesn't even seem, at this point, a place to go for future tech information. So, we'll see if RK is taking it out, so to speak, on his old forum for the future not going as planned? A topic for Shambala perhaps?
