Drake equation, opposable thumbs, plenty of oil. We need Manhatten projects for AGI and SAI and for fusion. We could have fusion in five years according to Jef Brown. Or Space-based solar.

As Pinnochio said in the Geico commerical, "I see nothing but potential." Here, was a thought experiment in action, how would the earth hold 1 trillion people, by pushing the technology you have suggested.

I am more convinced than ever that extra-terrestrial space is sterile. And I don't just mean that it has no advanced life. I mean sterile. The case has pretty much been made:
