Republicans will increase slightly in the Senate but will lose the house in midterms

In the Senate race the Republicans must defend in only 3 states while the Democrats must defend in 10 states that Trump won. . The House is vulnerable because many suburbs tend to purple and could easily go to the Democrats. Trump will proclaim victory either way.

Prediction

rich,

The Senate and house are both horseraces.

As you say, sure, the Senate is heavily favored to stay R and even grow more so, but still may surprise.

I am sure that the Dems will try to do what they did to both the oldster Judge who ran in Alabamy and a while back to another oldster who ran in Texas.

They fell to really nothing but slime thrown at them - but it worked. And it has worked before that. It can surely work again.

And recall that Billionaire ex con former Coal mine owner who was running in some big Repub Primary race recently. He came in last out of three in the primary, but he looked strong for a minute.

Before he drifted down, his big news event was to "talk trash" about a senior Republican's "chinaman" connection "that was probably there" due to his Chinese ethnic wife.

So we are vulnerable to Dem attacks and to our own surprise "oddball" candidacies that might take off.

You guys also have big problems. Your mainline DNC and your Progressives have not yet begun to mend. Your major Demo you need to turn out, Black voters, has inroads from the last election and the Kanye and his wife effect this time.

Not to mention that retired Black B-ball player who was praising Pres Trump after the Korea visit.

We could truly be in for surprises both ways.

Richie, That not so much a prediction as the Dem/MSM game plan. Take back the House and 1) block any Trump agenda items; 2) impeach Trump; 3) defeat Trump in 2020, thereby seizing power.

Too early to tell if its going to be successful. The MSM has gone to extremes to get it's base ginned up, but in doing so they're angering Trump's base. The Republicans have several aces up their sleeve, besides the economy: Will minorities, including Jews, move a little toward the Reps or stay home? Will Reps get a bounce from those that sat out 2016 because they didn't like Trump, but who now are impressed by him? Will voters really want to turn to the Dem party after 8 years of feckless management? How will the FBI/Mueller impact things? I mean, we almost lost the country to these savages.

Spike thinks the extremism and hate being dished out by the Left will turn people to the Republicans. I can't believe how vile the Left has become, so Spike may be right.

The Democrat party is not, precisely speaking, the "party out of power". They are more like political has-beens that have gone collectively insane. Have you heard the latest about Maxine Waters encouraging adherents to harass and intimidate Republicans in private settings? Seriously?

In the time Trump has been President, he has collected a small hand-full of Dem votes in Congress. No Dem voted for the tax cuts, for instance. Nothing passes the Senate with a 60 vote needed.

My guess is that if the Reps hold both houses of Congress in Nov., McConnell will let the filibuster die. Then it can be said that the Reps control all branches of government, but not until then.
