Uh - is anyone under the impression that we can turn over a rock anywhere in the developed world and find someone unaware that Facebook is hugley, incredibly rich, and influential to the point of being really powerful?
I think not.
Some of us abjure "Zuckbook" because we saw Zuck canoodle and schmooze with Merkel to say "I will slant the news and views your way" and have seen him do the same in working with Dems in the US.
Zuck has earned his opponents.

When famous and rich people -- like Krauthammer and Hawkings -- die it should remind us all of how much money we PISS away doing nothing, or doing stupid stuff like fight wars.
The $6 trillion we have pissed into the so-called "war of Terror" could easily have solved cancer by now.

Agreed. But I see no reason the U.S. can't also de-nuke in step with everyone else they're demanding de-nuke. Since ALL governments are potential mass-slaughter machines, eventually we need to arrive at a world where no one, especially governments, have weapons.

Agreed. Problem is cultural Marxism -- what you are referring to as neo-Marxism -- is embedded not only in academia, it's in the cinema, mass media, theater, literature and even the clergy. The "long march through the cultural institutions" has been quite through.
The only way we will get rid of this infestation is the way the Frankfurt School implanted it -- with a "long march" through the cultural institutions of our own. This means lazy, stupid, CONSERVATIVES that sit on their asses waiting for "God" to do everything need to start funding the !@#$ out
of conservative filmmakers, authors, filmmakers, politicians, educators, speakers, pastors, artists, musicians. If they don't' we are all fucked. There is no deus ex machina.

One is a valid equation for many x's and y's.
The other is a widespread yearning. Many share that or similar goals of at least a lot less militaristic spending. Some movements along those lines go way back to movements anticipating qasi-spiritual events to be combined with upcoming human history.
As long as we have the nations and national histories we know, having the most deadly, capable military on the planet, and being known to have that, is an asset.
An expensive asset, yes. So would we get less Gov if we demilitarised more?
Hmmm. How has that worked in Europe and the UK? Why, the State kept growing like topsy.
Yes, but cancer! We spend lots on cancer, and our LE and other bioscience advances keep coming. If some issue is so demanding that we need to consider cutting our DOD, it will not be cancer.
It will be some large competitor for our national annual Fed budget, like Medicare or SS.
