What is the Dump Trump strategy?

My perception as it goes is a slow and relentless squeeze on Donald Trump and his base. Trump strategists are scrambling to insert him into the midterms because he is still in the first two years of his Presidency and has a couple of noteworthy accomplishments under his belt.
A Tax bill and a Sumit meeting with Kim Jong Un which may help stabilize Asia [sign in to see URL] save a lot of money doing large military exercises with South Korea.

Mueller will ondoubtedly keep his investigation going until after the midterms and in control of the house will be holding a very big card to initiate impeachment. This will tone Trump down because if impeached everything Mueller has would be trotted out in congressional hearings on national television. Trump and his handlers do NOT want that. My suspicion is the Democrats will put up some ‘fresh faces’ in the 2020 Presidential and Trumps ‘track record’ will be available for all to see.
That. My friend, will be a rough gig. Trump is not the kind of politician who will become beloved.

As always.....

That chart is looking a lot less impressive than it did 6 months ago.

If you cut out the one bump at the start of 2018, it looks like continuous growth. Here's a bit of wisdom: stock holders are not idiots!

Sure, because when you cherry pick what to pay attention to you can make anything look better. Not saying the market under Trump hasn't been good overall, but the "Trump Bump" obviously wasn't as consistent as many of his supporters thought it would be.

Who said anything about consistency? There was one point where it got over-heated, but it is still on track. This is not about cherries. It is about money:

I did, when I said that the graph isn't looking as good as it did 6 months ago. Your cherry picking doesn't change the fact that it looked a lot better 6 months ago.

Re: What is the Dump Trump strategy?

rich,

It can be phrased more heart wrendingly, angrily worse than that - and it has been!

The "News Blame" attacks have continued. But somehow his numbers are better and holding.

Why doesnt the continuous Trump Blame seem to work?

It certainly could be "Hating Trump" fatigue.

Poll respondents a short while ago told pollsters they were tired of "Trump-Russia" all the time.

They had "Trump-Russia" fatigue.

Now Muelly is proescuting freinds and subordintes of Pres Trump, and his lawyer, for things other than the reason for the investigation.

That reason was Russian collusion with the Trump Campaign to hurt Hillary. They are not prosecuting anyone for that.

Instead of investigating that, Muelly focusses on spinning possible hurt to Pres Trump if this or that victim of the Prosecutor can be pressured by the Prosecutor to blame the President for something.

Yes, Muelly will stretch this out until he is made to stop. Those around the Pres, all of them, may at any time be rousted by a no-knock warrant and a SWAT team and news reporter at any time of day or night - just as Manafort was.

Its not a shame to Pres Trump - its rather an example of the nonsense he has to go through while he tries to get anything done.
