Spike and the machinery

Do you really think that machinery will never attain consciousness? What about dis?

They have used only electronics to do this. There is nothing biological involved. My assumption is that it will not be conscious...even if they claim it is.

You do know that biology is electrical? The circuitry is biological (carbon+H2O+phosphorus, etc)?

I have a theory about that. I suspect that consciousness is "organic" in the sense that it can only bond with a suitable biological host. A human can only mate with a complimentary human and a human consciousness can only bond with a complimentary biological form. A consciousness (a soul) can no more bond with electronics than a man can have sex with a silicon doll and make a baby.

I envision what you describe as a mind seed floating in randomly from somewhere and then landing inside a brain. I am leaning with the Hindu idea of sky records, where fragments of peoples' lives are photonically (neutrinos?) composited together with other people's, and whola, a person emerges with the brain (a different new, person) sometimes with a memory or two.

The people in the sky database are undiminished, but remain as files in the database (relational?) for later revival. Prisco's 2019 June essay on this sort of knocked it out of the park, intellectually.

Japanese koan: "To a hammer, the entire world looks like a nail." Which might be a personal flaw of mine? On the machine intelligence thing, I don't see a Moore's Law in the way of becoming a thinking machine. It may be impossible true, but I'd need a scientific reason. My thought on this, is we may have been, 'emerged,' to create thinking machines and send these guys out to the local universe, to perserve it from a big rip, or a cold die-off, or, as Tipler envisioned, to herd matter and knowledge into a final, ultimate singularity. Right now, the whole concept of these gives me a headache on saturday morning, after a night of working.

Re: Spike and the machinery

My personal theory is that a soul (of which consciousness is the discernable manifestation) forms in conjunction with a human life. Something like a transcription protein attaches to a human after conception and, via the transcription protein, a soul grows along with the human.

When the human dies, their soul is set adrift and remains in a kind of timeless suspension until one day when it is possible to reconfigure the persons original body so that their soul automatically reattaches to it. Call this the "resurrection".

My ideas keep reshaping and growing. I am guided by four things: the limitations of the physical universe, the direction the universe seems to be taking, the assumption that some uber-intelligence has constructed the universe to fulfill a discernable plan, and the assumption that the uber-intelligence wants us to discern the plan.

None of my ideas stand individually. They are all constructed holistically with an eye on all the forces and motivations involved.
