Consider a dreamed of Dem win by Lucid's party, midterm. Consider that if in 2019 or really pre-election, the Reps say the Dems will take away your tax cuts, dem blood will flow in the streets, because people will kill for money. If Feb and March 2019 the cash comes to the Middle Class, and not just billionaires, then, indeed, all the Don has to say is, get em boys (and girls).

Actually, I suspect what the Democrats would do is roll back the corporate tax cuts but leave (or even make permanent) the cuts on everyone else.

The 'corporate' tax cuts are what were most desperately needed for America.

lucid,

Consider Reds' point. The business cuts mean more potential jobs both directly and indirectly.

As we have this low unemployment, the more job openings, the more wages rise. Low wages rising! A good thing.

All from peeps who own biz's keeping some more of their capital.

Win-win!

If we can cut taxes like we did and the added growth actually increases overall revenue then it is indeed a win-win. If the deficit goes up sharply and suddenly we have to start cutting social services, then we know who loses. We'll start to know one way or the other when the larger cuts actually kick in next year.

I think at best the tax cuts are a wash for the GOP, politically. Everyone appreciates paying less in taxes, but the corporate cuts being permanent while the cuts for everyone else expire is very poor optics.

I'll tell you what though, I'm always open to experimentation. America is tougher than one tax cut, so I have no existential fear about the health of the nation one way or the other. If this tax cut can produce enough growth to cover the difference without cutting social services then I will become a bit more fiscally conservative.

An old Reagan plan that never quite came to fruition - because he was never able to cut enough spending or control budgets enough.

The plan - let the deficit run as must be to get defense funded, then cut budgetarily when you can.

And get those taxes and regs down to free the reigns on the horses of capitalism!

That plan, even though incompletely done, worked well enough to create a "Reagan boom" that made him a huge two term success and strong enough to sweep his VP in for "Reagans' third term."

Pres Trump has already done the defense spending, the tax reduction, and much more regulatory deck clearing than St. Ronnie did.

And the economy is doing so well that Ex Pres Obama and his many Resisty hangers on in DC want to give him credit for it. The "Trump bump" has turned into a great Trump economy based on both the tax and regulatory stuff, and also his Rah Rah "America Business " boosterism.

With the next six and half years, I have the fingers crossed that we get a handle on Entitlements, which is the master cancer regarding the ginormous "Budget Tumor that Will Not Stop Growing!"

There is at least one possible cure to that "Budget Cancer." Only this President could possible pull it off -

The Murray UBI plan!

Yes - the plan Spud doubts, but was open minded enough to check out.

The Murray UBI plan eliminates a huge, ongoing slice of the budget by eliminating whole Fed Departments, and administrative expenses.

Its a long shot - lust like winning was, even against "Her."

Pres Trump is, again, possibly the only President we can imagine with the ability to do it.

And that could redirect that crazy budgetary tumorous growth curve.
