He may get convicted in Wakanda-opolis - I mean, Minneapolis.

He should be fine on appeal.

The police have already gotten the message that if they harm a black person they may lose everything. As a result, the riots in Minneapolis have already resulted in one or two deaths:

The black response in Minneapolis is a 100% empirical failure.

3rd degree murder seems appropriate.

Even tho he's a white cop and there's a dead black man, he still is an American with the right of due process and the presumption of innocence. Radical idea, I know.

I've heard conflicting accounts of the cause of death, like the knee to the neck shouldn't have killed him. Others say the full weight of the officer's knee could have been enough to cause death.

I don't know.

Verdict then trial, or trial then verdict?

Of course he's legally innocent until proven guilty, but the videos are pretty damning evidence of his guilt. We'll just have to see what his defense is, and what other details come out between now and the end of his trial.

So, I'll put you down for "verdict then trial".

Of course.

The wages of "me-too" plus the stain of abandoning logic and reason for decades since the sixties when Race is discussed have returned us to wild-west justice.

For many, now, it's simply: "Hang 'im high!"

And if ya gotta have a durn trial first, fine.

As with comparing Biden and Kavanaugh judgement issues, at some point these Race issues will be brought to the table, and a truthful public discussion will happen widely, not just on places like vids by Colin Flaherty.

That isn't what I said at all. I said that the evidence we've seen is damning, but he gets to mount his defense. Perhaps there is new evidence that will come out that puts the current evidence in new light, and that is why we have a trial.

I unfortunately watched the video.. 3rd degree murder doesn't sound unreasonable to me. As was said, the autopsy should be informative.
I'd rather not go looking at it, to see how much pressure was on the guy's neck. He may very well have died of something else, but that was some unnecessary / excessive force imho. The guy looked to have peed himself.
The other video didn't seem to show him resisting much beforehand, although I think it cut off at some point.

Anyway, you can see officers on Cops do similar things to people, sometimes going overboard with the knees on the back or neck, etc.. Especially if they resisted arrest, or were being combative.
They almost always say they can't breath. That's pretty routine.
