Your satisfaction is actually my point, Lucid.

You win, and all others who are also satisfied win.

You know also that one of the corrupt status-quo issues is the State and in some cases regional monopoly or cartel situation that exists for Health Insurance.

The idea of ripping up the State barrier laws and treating Health Insurance like Car Insurance is old and gold.

That alone would probably shake out in half a year with a plan that you would like better.

Doc, Lucid doesn't have ObamaCare, he has much better insurance paid from his pocket. He's just making the Dem argument that there are some who can't, so we have to provide out of our pockets. In other words, communism, or socialism, or whatever.

That's possible, Red, but I'll take Lucid at his word.

This mess we have is more like the Canuck version of National Health Care than the Brit version.

The ones who support it have a right to their cherished beliefs. I just don't want to have to put my pennies and dollars in their collection plate!

Great. As long as you're not advocating for getting rid of the health insurance marketplace which I choose to use then we're pretty much on the same page.

I'm confused though, because you said:

It confirms what many of us thought and said - that Obamacare was way too expensive. Seeing a product range like this at these prices is what confirms that.

The Land O' Lakes plan is still Obamacare compliant, so I'm not sure how this plan is some kind of proof that Obamacare is inherently "too expensive". If anything, it proves that insurance companies are making huge profits which would be the case with or without Obamacare. If I could get an Obamacare compliant co-op plan then I would, but it isn't available to me on or off the marketplace.

I agree. I would love to see cross-state plans. Trump should champion it.

Incorrect. I own my own business and must buy private health insurance, so I use the marketplace to find the cheapest plan that meets my needs. This year, it is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield plan.

How much does that cost you, and what is your deductible? BXBLShield is just a major health insurance company. I had them for years. No ObamaCare needed.

I pay about $300 a month and I have a deductible of about $5,000. I chose the plan because I am young, in relatively good health and rarely need medical care. The marketplace made it quite easy to find a plan that met my needs.

Yep, and prior to Obamacare I was quoted a plan from them that was hundreds of dollars more expensive than I'm paying now, I wasn't guaranteed to be covered for pre-existing conditions and there were yearly and lifetime caps on the total benefits. The marketplace showed me dozens of plans (including 5 or 6 from BCBS) and I was able to make an informed decision about what works for me with the confidence that there would be no surprises down the line.

Did you have pre-existing conditions? It may have worked out for you if you did.

Not that I'm aware of. I was more worried about the uncertainty. I had heard horror stories from friends and family. At least one person was denied benefits because their issues were "pre-existing" and in another case a member of my extended family essentially went bankrupt because they hit the yearly cap after developing cancer while also dealing with diabetes. It was honestly quite scary and stressful to sign up for an insurance plan that costs hundreds of dollars a month with no guarantee that it would protect me if the worst happened.

I've never heard of an 'insurance' company that did not cover subsequent illness. Your story is not making sense, Lucid.
