I read this on sunday, Spike and though there wasn't a lot to look at, it seems, exciting in that it seems PFC. Pretty !@#$ Close!

I am skeptical. However, it is difficult to see how a real physicist could be completely wrong. Sooner or later, someone is going to figure out how to make a reactionless drive...then, watch out!

It sounds good. Like the old "impulse" drive on Star Trek.

Nobody is going to pay tons to make one right now, based on the article, due to how little force it can generate using one roughly the size of the ISS.

So a really giant one, to see? Nah. The modelling will get better, and we'll know. This isn't like the EM drive, and totally new theory needed.

This is just a new way of looking at this stuff.

Yeah - a little more AI, and we'll know.

Beyond Yuri Milner from Russia, how hard up are we to reach Centauri in 4 years? We have the entire solar system and Oort Cloud to touch. We'll get better telescope to see if anything is out there worth rushing to, green planets would be one of these. Metallic shiny stuff would be another.

We will kick up the light speed stuff in time, and the FTL later.

Agreed.

The System has so, so much that can transform us from civilizations rising and falling on a mudball into a multi-planet, multi-interplanetary civilization.

Many of us want the stars. We'll get there, one way or another.

Getting out into the system is, as you note, the goal we gotta hit.

My thing is GETTING INTO THE SOLAR SYSTEM to use its raw materials and if doable, to build rotating houses.
