Re: Isaac Arthur vid- Boltzmann Brains & the Anthropic Principle

I got some ideas from this.

One thing that occurred to me is that if an intelligent entity with just enough control of its environment to start restructuring things popped into existence in a universe without any natural propensity to create order, it might actually be the initial spark that organized that universe. In a sense, that is what humans are doing. We apparently evolved, but now we have enough control of our surroundings to override evolution and start restructuring our universe. That is the basis of the idea of computronium.

The question, then, might be this: is it more likely that a universe would pop into existence where evolution can occur or is it more likely that a universe would pop into existence where evolution could not occur but where an intelligent entity capable of taking control could pop into existence. According to the Boltzmann brain hypothesis, the latter is far more likely.

The entity that popped onto existence and took control might properly be called God. However, I have reason to doubt that hypothesis as well. The most likely universe, by far, is one like I describe in my blog entry A Theory of God and Everything

Well, something must be viewing an action or being an observer function to, in a quantum sense, collapse into T or F. This is what Schrodinger's Cat is all about. The Cat emerges even in Conway's' Life.

Mathematics and physics are converging on a proof of the existence of God. Sufficiently large AI will certify it...then what?

That is probably when the trumpet gets blown and everything changes. My suspicion is that the Singularity is just the lead-up to that big change.

I am good with God as you sort of identified. Remember, there was Shermer (the Atheist) Last Law.

"Any sufficiently advanced alien is indistinguishable from God." Shermer was being sarcastic, however, his profundity in this, has out-witted him.

Moreover, what, if anything would this massively superior and complex mind desire of us? I mean, many, depending what we get out of it, even emotionally, would like to help out. Yeah, there'd be those, who, primate-like, would suck up, which for me is understandable and forgivable, but not really helpful.

I don't know what Falken would do, besides attempt to throw a drink at it, out of some sort of spite? I am more interested in asking some interesting how questions. I am goofy that way.

It depends on what it, if anything, asks of us too? A singularity that makes us in a different position then we are right now, because with such tech, we'd we co-creators, far more than the bumbling fumblers we are now. Maybe it wants us to somehow generate more intelligent minds in an empty cosmos (mostly)?

This essay is converging to 2000 views:

It is pretty much all I have to say on the subject.

Synchronicity. That is something to be grateful for.

If God speaks too loudly, all the T's and F's collapse and free will disappears. It is a balancing act.
