The OP article shows that the elite top level of older Dems is moderating dramatically on Impeachment, and trying to cool the mood on it.
Even "Mad Maxine" Waters - OLD Mad Maxine - is calmly telling other Representatives to NOT join her in her long-running "Impeach 45" campaign.
Yet - the same article shows that Crazy Eyes will not be disciplined!
And poor, desperate Pocahontas wont drop it - its the last gasp of her dying dream! Its all she got!
From the OP article:

Well, maybe the smarter among them, don't see enough actual evidence to win anything if it came down to it, and see more benefit in just speaking as if they could if they wanted to, but they won't, because they respect democracy and the the constitution... <-And at least get some brownie points out of it.
Impeachment would be setting up an official assessment with an official conclusion. (like the Russian Collusion investigation)
As it is, they can blow all the smoke they want, imply all sorts of things, and not have to back it up with any conclusive facts, like they would with an official impeachment process.

The ‘threat’ of impeachment will stay with Trump even into the beginning of a hypothetical second term. He is now watching his legacy. And he has some amazing ‘possible’ baggage which could be used in an impeachment whenever he is President. He is no doubt very tired and annoyed at all the scrutiny, but that is EXACTLY the name of the game in the highest office in the land. His ‘war on immigration’ may not last long enough to stave off an i this ‘final tool’ of the Congress to roadblock a perceived ‘runaway’ administration

In the first sentence of the above post, the word Threat is surrounded by quotes. This indicates that the word is not quite right for the sentence as simply written.
Justly so! Impeachment is approximately zero threat to the President right now.
Thats why the Dem leaders are tamping the flaming emotions of their base and the Reps that have been calling for it. Tamping it down into merely glowing embers.
The elite thoughts on this issue may well be: "We will need the fire come election time! Keep them embers glowing!"
Impeachment is arguably better for the Presidents reelection chances, than not. Thus the Dem leadership is now making the effort to prevent their newly elected Reps from "running with their emotions."
The leaders know that Pocahontas isn't the only one who will jump on the bandwagon, once it starts rolling. Once the fire lights and is fed, the crowds at rallies start roaring - it will take lots more effort to tamp it down then.
All the time that would be used up to ramp up the impeachment fires and then tamp them down will NOT be being used to attack the President at full force.
All that time the Presidents' base WILL be being energized! Yeah - definitely:
Bad for the Dems, good for the President.
Legacy Issues
To think that after the personal attack, reputational smear campaign that has been going on for years now,that the President has not considered legacy already surprises me.
Legacy worries popping up now, or later? Really?
That the President is not already considering this or that way to arrange a good, very defensible, sturdy alternative legacy "take" on himself is not being worked on - I am VERY surprised to read from you, Rich.
No way can this not be in the works! With so much of media and publishing now in the "smear" camp, the very media-savvy man who got elected must know he cannot simply "see how it goes" and expect anything but a "sh*t-show."
Can TDS be clouding your mind, that you don't see this?
