Yeah, but like with Larry Niven's Footfall, I vote we have our robots built a near indestructible set of repeated instructions, indelibly, to give them help building tech to survive.
Re: Should we seed life on other planets? Yeah Im surprised that Elon hasnt had any pushback about his Mars project. Theres still a posibility that microbiological life is on Mars. I seem to remember Carl Sagan saying if this is the case we have no right to interfere. Personally I think humankind becoming multiplanetary is more important. I can also imagine genetically engineering plants that are suitable for growing on Mars (we'd have to terraform the environment too for this to be practical).
Wacky stuff. But less wacky than it would have seemed 20 years ago.
Re: Should we seed life on other planets? Yeah Wildlife meaning the animal kingdom is beautiful but harsh. Life is hard out there for animals I'm not sure I would want to create more harshness. Simulations might be more compassionate realities where animals don't have to attack and eat each other.

Re: Should we seed life on other planets? Yeah @Falken
If there is life at all on mars-microbial, let us use it to create new wonderful things-if possible?
On Papa's ideas for life based on, created within a computer system, well, unless these beings live a tortured existence, to let it flow. Maybe these are the kinds of beings to send, if they choose it, to go interstellar?
