Re: Men with Beards
Not all of us grow good beards, either. I have an OK one now, but most of my life it was too sparse.
A retiree or someone who is self employed can let one come and go as I've been doing for a while. I have kept this one for a couple of weeks, and thats the longest. I could chop it off anytime.
As for a signal - bah, humbug! Grow some confidence instead, and walk up to one or two and talk. Shocker! Once you try it young fellers - golly! It turns out its a thing called "talking."
Go, try. And a beard? Beard, schmeard. Wear one if you like to.

Re: Men with Beards
My beard has such naturally good lines that it was eventually just easier to let it grow out and trim it once in a while.
I have noticed that, as a result, students give me more respect and men in places like tool stores and auto parts shops are more comfortable around me. It's just better all around.
I haven't noticed any extra attention from women, and my mother hates it.

Re: Men with Beards
For any that want it and think any like your Mom, Spike, that disapproves -
Among the ladies are plenty that will accept lots of incredibly "wrong" this and that. Wear one if it appeals.
One of the reasons I left this one on is that like Spike, I have noticed a better attitude from a few peeps.
