Are we all burning in hell?

For a laugh i went on you tube and started watching Left Behind (2014) it depicts the day of judgement as a literal day rapture moment. It is my understanding that the Bible is not necessarily to be taken literally. What if judgements day lasts for years? a slow transition from one world to the [sign in to see URL] and the devil gradually putting up the heat on us sinners. This would explain how the world is gradually gets worse and worse. We've been thrown together! Do you accept you are burning? or are you like a frog in boiling water? by which i mean are you french? and have you washed recently? Or perhaps its just me that thinks this? and im in my own personal hell?

And just think those of us longing for The Singularity - a technological heaven on earth. That was the Devil tempting you with technological witchcraft. Oh so being a humble Human wasnt good enough for you? you wanted to be augmented and bastardised the human to be "transhuman". Why this witchcraft? why not the simple life of a farmer tending his land, feeding his family? for eterinity. Is your broadband fast enough for you is it? Are you cumming in your pants at the thought of being sucked off by a teraflop. Exactly how many gigaflops have you looked at sinner? you sit there like focking Caligula clapping for whores to entertain your most perverse fantasy Those of you in the west that are part of this forum moan about your lives - remind me again exactly why you dont dedicate your life to help the poor and needy? Both where you live and abroad? just your top 15 reasons should be fine. OR PERHAPS IM A DEMON SENT TO SEND A FINAL WARNING TO SINNERS. TELL ME YOUR REPENTENCE!

I am of the opinion that the "rapture" is a misunderstanding of several Biblical passages. When it says that one will be taken and the other left, it means that one man will die and the other will remain alive. People do not go to "heaven". Heaven comes to earth.

And, no, I do not feel that I am living in Hell. Life is good. It is far from perfect, but it is good. It is getting better all the time. In my opinion, the Singularity may be the fulfillment of Revelation. In any case, I suspect that is how it will be interpreted. Religious folk will want to fit events into their theology, and that will be the handiest explanation for why there is suddenly plenty for everyone, no wars, and no alien invaders to screw it all up.

quote:

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Luke 17:20-21)

Maybe, when Jesus says, "The Kingdom of God is within you," he means that the ability to realize the Kingdom of God is within you. You have the ability to create it if you just put your energies into the right enterprises.

In any case, I realize that you are not actually attempting to interpret the Bible or Christianity, but to mock them. And if you think you are in Hell, perhaps it is because someone is trying to cut your penis [sign in to see URL] speaking.

Really? Only if you dont give a toss about those that are suffering. Western privilage. Are you sure youve done enough to enter the kingdom of Heaven?

So, Falken, you do not go to Pub, so as to deny yourself the pleasure of a pint and a pie, as long as there are Libyans, trying to enter the UK?

I am sure that when you do go occasionally, it's to discuss the plight of these adorable people, and a prompt resolution of their problems? (eyes rolling at 5000 RPM).

I think what we all fear is a loss of control, whether this is death, illness, job loss, or pain. -No great analysis on my part.

The more interesting question, is how or when have any North Africans ever cared about your problems, or the troubles of the UK? Moreover, why, we need to ask, do these people wish to migrate? Islam is supposed to create paradise correct? Sharia, and the path to Janah?

I suspect those in africa - particularly sub-saharan - dont worry too much about our problems. Brexit is a disaster, but i dont think in even the worst scenario its going to lead to mass starvation. Self-awareness is important hence the phrase "First world problems" as an acknowledgement of how we dont have it so bad.

Obviously i also consider Islam to be nonsense and as an ideology with some really bad ideas and 2 billionish followers is worrying. If only 1% of them believe the crazy sh1t thats 20 million lunatics passionate about death to western civilization.

I agree personal tragedy is also a factor.

I dunno. Id have more time for theists if they said "This is my sacred text, its stories inspire and guide me BUT its obviously a construct of loads of undivine people with differing accounts and perhaps some ideas from the past are out of date... "

What if the Bible was just a meditative text? No different from any other undivine selfhelp book. It was written with the best of intentions - but has had some unfortunate repercussions.

Is that what gives some Christians value in the bible? It doesnt matter if its true, were gonna live our lives like it is true.

I pick and mix influences - i think its possible that more than one book has all the answers. The idea of believing in a single sacred text above all others is the problem.

I can easily prove that is not true:

]What I Would Do With Infinite Time and Resources

You claim to care about people, but what about all the animals in the wild that experience hardship and starvation on a daily basis? What about the possibility of aliens on other planets or even in other dimensions? Is their suffering less real because it is not happening in your purview?

When I say life is good, I am describing the only creature's experience that I can actually verify: my own.

yes i do care about the welfare of all sentient beings in the universe. And i dedicate my time accordingly - not enough - but i help where i can. Its tough to help aliens without knowing exactly where they are - i have the seti at home app running in the background so if there are any alien distress signals i might pick them up.

Its easy to fantasize about what you'd do with unlimited resources - its a bit like people who say if they win the lottery theyll give some to charity - oh how generous! Those people are still primarily thinking about themselves and the money theyll keep for themselves.

I also take real world steps to help. I support Donald Trump. His policies help the most people, and healthy happy people do more to help animals. The very best thing you can to to help anyone and everyone (even aliens to the extent that we can matter) is to support Donald Trump.
